How to prepare a complete payslip

  1. 1.Fill in employer and employee details

State the company or employer, employee name, position, employee ID, and the pay period (e.g. July 2569), so the payslip clearly identifies whose it is and which period. This matters when the employee uses it as income evidence.

  2. 2.Enter salary and other earnings

List base salary, overtime, commission, attendance bonus, or bonuses if any, itemized clearly, then total the gross earnings before deductions. Itemizing lets both sides verify the figures.

  3. 3.State deductions — social security and tax

Enter deductions such as the employee social security portion (at the rate and cap set for that year), withholding income tax, and any other deductions. Confirm the current social security rate and tax method with the Social Security Office and Revenue Department before real use.

  4. 4.Calculate net take-home pay

Subtract all deductions from gross earnings to get the net amount actually paid. In the Excel file, use formulas to reduce errors, then check the net matches what is transferred to the employee.

  5. 5.Add date and payment method

Finish with the payment date and method (e.g. bank transfer), then keep copies on both sides. A complete payslip helps the employee prove income and helps the employer summarize payroll costs at bookkeeping time.

What must a payslip include?

It should show the employer and employee, pay period, each earning (salary, overtime, bonus), each deduction (social security, withholding tax), the net amount received, and the payment date. Clear itemization makes it stronger as evidence.

How much social security is deducted from salary?

Section 33 social security is deducted at the rate and wage cap the Social Security Office sets each year, which can change. Check the current rate and cap with the Social Security Office (sso.go.th) before calculating so the payslip deduction is correct.

Can a payslip be used for loans or visa applications?

Yes. A payslip is income evidence banks and embassies often request. It should be complete and match the amount actually transferred. Some may ask for several months of payslips plus a bank statement.

Must an employer issue a payslip every month?

Issuing payslips is good practice and supports transparency between employer and employee, and serves as proof of payment and deductions. Check the current labor-law requirements for your business situation as well.
